Privacy policy

Echofiles is made by Ontiqo Pty Ltd, an Australian company. It is short because there is little to say.

What Echofiles does with your files

Echofiles copies the folders you choose between computers on your own local network. Your files travel directly from one of your computers to another over that network.

What we collect

Nothing. Echofiles has no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no telemetry. The program talks only to the other computers on your local network.

The settings it keeps (the folders you chose, your passphrase, and a list of which files it has seen) are stored only on each computer, in that computer's own settings folder. Deleted and overwritten files are kept for 30 days in a recovered-files folder on each computer, then removed.

The website and the support form

This website is hosted by Cloudflare, which keeps ordinary web server logs for the pages and downloads it serves. The site has no analytics or tracking scripts. A message sent through the support form is delivered to us by email and kept only as email; nothing about it is stored on the website. If you give an email address, we use it to reply and for nothing else.

The Microsoft Store

If you install Echofiles from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft handles the download and updates and may collect usage statistics under Microsoft's own privacy statement. We see only aggregate counts in the Store dashboard, never anything that identifies you.

Children

Echofiles is not directed at children and collects no information from anyone, of any age.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
